abstract
a simple, inexpensive and one-step synthesis route of ag-tio2 nanoparticles by arc discharge method isreported. the resulting nanoparticles were characterized using x-ray diffraction and scanning electronmicroscopy. x-ray diffraction patterns demonstrate dominance of rutile to anatase phase in tio2 andformation of silver metal on tio2 after arc discharge process. scanning electron microscopy images exhibitthe increase of reduced nanoparticles in 5 minutes arc duration compared with 1 minute arc duration.photodegradation of methyl orange as a standard pollutant shows that the presence of silver in tio2 wasfound to enhance the photocatalytic activity. the high activity of silver doped tio2 is due to theenhancement of electron–hole separation by the electron trapping of silver particles. antibacterial activitiesof ag-tio2 nanoparticles were investigated at the presence of escherichia coli bacteria.

full textPreparation and Characterization of Cerium Doped Titanium Dioxide Nanoparticles by the Electrical Discharge Method
Titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO2) are known as a widely used photocatalyst. In order to improve the performance of these nanoparticles, the recombination of the electron-cavity pair must be reduced and the absorption rate of the visible region should be expanded. One way to increase the performance of these nanoparticles is using cerium doped TiO2. In the present study, pure and doped titan...
full textCharacterization and photocatalytic activity of SiO2-TiO2 mixed oxide nanoparticles prepared by sol-gel method
SiO2-TiO2 mixed oxides have been prepared by sol-gel technique from titanium tetraisopropoxide and tetraethylorthosilicate. The prepared materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction, FT-IR spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, nitrogen physisorption and UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. The results indicate that compared to pure TiO2, the SiO2-TiO2 mixed oxides show higher the...

Synthesis and Characterization of CeO2 Nanoparticles via Solution Combustion Method for Photocatalytic and Antibacterial Activity Studies
CeO2 nanoparticles have been proven to be competent photocatalysts for environmental applications because of their strong redox ability, nontoxicity, long-term stability, and low cost. We have synthesized CeO2 nanoparticles via solution combustion method using ceric ammonium nitrate as an oxidizer and ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) as fuel at 450 °C. These nanoparticles exhibit good pho...
full textSynthesis and Characterization of Doped TiO2 Nanoparticles by the Sol-Gel Method and Investigation of Photocatalytic Activity
Cu2+,Ce3+-doped nanostructure TiO2 -coated Nd3+ (TiO2 /Nd3+) were prepared by sol-gel method. TiO2 were synthesized by the sol-gel method using tetra n-butyl orthotitanat (TBT) as a precursor. The prepared nanoparticles characterized by FT-IR, XRD, SEM- EDS and TEM. The XRD showed that the major phase of nanocomposite is anatase. The morphology of the TiO2/Nd3+/Cu2+and TiO2 /Nd3+/Ce3+ microsphe...
